Any object under the influence of another celestial body’s gravity is affected because the space it is moving through is curved toward that object. The weaker the pull of gravity is, the less the object will weigh. Next, I will describe the definition of gravity to the students. Force: (i) Force is a push or a pull. Gravity is what keeps the planets in orbit around the sun and the moon around the Earth. The speed of free fall is consistent over the surface of the earth. It is because of the gravitational pull between the earth and the sun the atmosphere is kept in place and provides us with the air that we need to breathe in order to survive. Based on Government Sponsored Research NAS7-03001 and NNN12AA01C. Students will share their responses with a partner and come to a consensus on what they believe gravity is. 1
